When I was on the dance team in high school, we would have all day competitions that sometimes seemed to last forever! Luckily, my friend’s mom would make these amazing brownies for us dancers. They are absolutely AMAZING! First of all, I am a total sucker for anything that involves chocolate and peanut butter. Second of all, brownies are my favorite dessert. So I was bound to fall in love with these. This past weekend I decided to make them myself for the first time, and they did not last long at all. If you’re looking to spruce up your regular brownies, this is the answer!
Buckeye Brownies
Ingredients
- 1 box brownie mix including ingredients noted on back of box
- 1¼ cup chocolate chips
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- ½ cup butter softened
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 4 Tbsp butter
- 4 Tbsp milk
- 1 cup sugar
- ½ cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Grease a 9 X 13 pan and set aside. Make brownie batter according to the instructions on the box. Add 1 cup of chocolate and stir into the batter. Pour into greased pan. Sprinkle ¼ cup o chocolate chips on top of the batter. Bake according to the instructions on the box and set aside to cool completely. (These are great by themselves if you want a regular brownie! The chocolate chips add a little extra richness.)
- In a medium sized bowl, mix together the powdered sugar, ½ cup of butter, and peanut butter. Make sure it is completely mixed together and a smooth texture. Once the brownies have cooled, used your hands to spread/pat this over the brownies until it is in one even layer.
- Put 4 Tbsp butter, 4 Tbsp milk, and 1 cup sugar in a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat. Let boil for 3 minutes while stirring constantly. Remove this mixture from the heat and add ½ cup of chocolate chips. Stir until smooth. Immediately pour over the peanut butter layer. This hardens fairly fast, so make sure to work quickly. Enjoy!
