Another food I was introduced to after moving to Iowa was breakfast pizza. I never would have thought to put breakfast food on a pizza, but it makes for the perfect weekend breakfast treat to share with friends and family. And, if there is any left, slices reheat well and are great for a quick breakfast before work!
Breakfast Pizza
Ingredients
- 1 14 in. pizza crust
- 6 oz. condensed cheddar cheese soup
- 4 slices bacon
- ½ lb breakfast sausage
- ¼ onion chopped
- 3 eggs
- 3 Tbsp milk
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Prepare all topping ingredients: cook bacon, sausage, and onion separately. I used the same pan and cooked the bacon first, then sausage, then onions. After draining all meat fat, cook onions on medium-low to caramelize; onions should be translucent and slightly brown in color. Whisk the eggs and milk together, then scramble so there are no large egg chunks. Set aside.
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Lightly grease a pizza pan with non-stick cooking spray. Place pizza dough on the pan and form into circle, making sure dough is about ¼ in. thick. Cook dough in oven for about 6 minutes, just to firm up a bit.
- Remove from oven and spread cheddar cheese soup over crust, leaving a crust around the edge. Sprinkle bacon, sausage, onions, and eggs evenly over top.
- Combine the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses and sprinkle on top of the pizza. Bake pizza for 12 minutes, or until crust begins to brown.
